Comparing budget vs brand name air conditioners is like driving your car into a big group of people who think pronouns matter. You run a few over, and kill most of them, buit its still not enough.
BUDGET vs BRAND NAME AIR CONDITIONERS
BUDGET AIR CON
DOES THE JOB
MIDEA APOLLO SERIES ARE THE ONLY BUDGET AIR CON BUILT TO LAST
Finally we’ve found a budget brand that can go the distance. Midea are the only low price air conditioners worth having. They won’t sound like an earthmover in your bedroom and it won’t cost a lot to run. They’re reasonably quiet, powerful and efficient. Every year we advise against buying the cheapest air conditioner, and generally speaking we still do. However there are times when budget constraints dictate what we buy, and if you really need an air conditioner installed at the lowest price possible, then Midea is the answer.
This company is one of the largest manufacturers in the world. I’d never heard of them until a few years ago and I am betting you hadn’t either. If we go to their company profile you’ll see that they manufacture 67 million air conditioners annually. Yes, 67,000,000.
What I want to know is : who does the counting? What happens if you get distracted and lose count half way through, maybe someone gets run over by a forklift. And you’re all like 52 million eight hundred and three …… ummm f*** not again! Does that mean you have to start over? It would me take longer than a year to count to 67 million. So what happens if they start next years run and you’re back at like nine hundred. Do they just keep piling up? I am getting stressed just thinking about it :(
UPDATE : Having just done the figures I can report that if you were to count to 67 million in one year, it would mean reaching the figure of 183,561 each day. If you allow for just 4 hours sleep, no sick days, holidays, lunch breaks or distractions, you would have to count 9,178 every hour, twenty hours a day. You would walk 4.2 km around the pile each time, and count 152 every minute if the boxes were stacked 4 high.
I am starting to think this is not a one man job. Maybe he has someone to hold his clipboard.
WHAT DO PREVIOUS CUSTOMERS SAY ABOUT THEIR BUDGET CONDITIONER?
We’ve installed maybe thirty of these around Brisbane in the last few years, and nobody has rung me except that guy in Burpengary. Sorry mate that was Benny overtightened the quarter inch nut. That was our fault not Mideas. Nobody else reported any problems – and its been more than six years since our first few. When someone asks about the choice between budget vs brand name air conditioners, Midea is the only one that comes close.
The Apollo model comes with wifi, which is really easy to learn, and each one is built tough. They have to be – There’s a great big pile of 67 million boxes somewhere. That’s a lot of weight on the bottom row.

But when you absolutely must have a good nights sleep, and you’re still three hundred short for the MHI, install a Midea. Its one of the few penny pinching exercises you won’t regret.

BUDGET VS BRAND NAME
ACExpert do hundreds of installations every summer. It’s not in our interests to install splits that don’t last. Warranty call outs exceed any money made on the job. We worry about these factors because we have to come back if something is not right. And come back we will until it is right, even if it costs us money in the end. Warranty call outs are something nobody likes, so we do the best job possible first time round. Hopefully you will never have to see us again.
We stand behind our installations. You can expect your Midea to be running for at least seven years because that’s how long the warranty lasts. Not bad for a budget brand of air con.
